Tried Swift FX for her last night. and ? about REMstar Auto

Post by Sireneh » Wed May 04, 2011 5:14 pm

Last night I got to try my new mask and I looove it! It was so comfy. I did wake up at some point and felt like my nostrils were a little sore. Applied some lanolin and that did the trick. Lanolin is a beautiful thing.

Now, about the machine. This is a borrowed machine as I am waiting for a new machine to arrive from cpap.com. It's an older model REMstar auto with humidifier. I tried to hook it all up last night and found that there is some sort of adapter missing that would connect the humidifier to the blower. So there are the two pieces that should be joined, exactly the same size and just staring at each other. I tried duct taping them together, which worked for a few hours but then we were awakened by the machine suddenly being loud as the connection was broken. Not the tape, just the connection. I just took it apart and attached the hose directly to the blower and that was fine for the rest of the night. Any other bright ideas about what I can do to connect them? Do medical supply stores carry that kind of stuff? Try tape again, only this time electrical? As a final alternative, I could just let it go since this is not a permanent set-up anyway.

If you have the same M Series Remstar Auto with A-flex I have, it is the other way around. You must take a snap on piece off the machine to connect it to humidifer. Be careful not to lose that piece or you will not be able to use the machine without the humidifier.

Yep, you don't need a piece, you have one piece to many. Remove the adapter and it will connect to the humidifier.

I think you may be right. How do I remove it?

One I try not to work on these things until I remove the water reservoir. Getting water back into the blower part of the machine can wreck these things. If you do what I have done, know it off onto the floor with the humidifier attached, then maybe stop using it for that night.

Off the point, you may not be as clumsy as I am.

Unplug the machine, turn it upside down. Where the hose attached to machine you will see a little rectangle with lines. Press down. This should press down the little catch hooks under neath that piece. Push it away from machine.

The entire piece slides into the humidifier. I was lucky. I had someone to show me how to do mine, so I have never thought of how difficult it can be.

OK, so it is not an "M" series. The model is just REMstar Auto. I'll keep looking in case there is a similar option to remove something (there is a piece that looks like it could come off but I don't want to force it until I know for sure that's what it's supposed to do). In the meantime, if anyone else knows this machine and how the blower can connect to the humidifer, I'd sure appreciate some help!

OK, the older "Tank" or Legacy series. That is different. If it is the older chamber it requires a coupler.

If it has the newer chamber (look for slits where the air goes into chamber) the coupler is a bit different. Hooks up with what they call the flapper valve.

They are great machines. Will outlast most of the new machines. If you get it hooked up and have problems setting the heat level let me know. It also has a preheat. Lets you warm the water before you turn it on.
