Haven't been around much....will try better.

Post by TheDreamer » Mon May 02, 2011 3:59 pm

I haven't been on here much lately...but I will try better.

Last Friday, I got a diagnosis of Narcolepsy....so maybe there's hope that I'll start feeling better again.

Meanwhile, I also got a new mask....the GoLife. But, I can't seem to figure it out. Though the headstraps didn't turn out the way I had hoped, and the cheek parts don't seem to match the shape of my face right. And, the pillows just don't seem to adjust right to fit my nose. Also it seems pretty noisy.

Guess I'll be returning it before my 30 days are up. Wonder if I'll go back to the Comfort Lite II, or what I've been using...the EasyLife...and wait and see what the Mirage FX is like.

The Dreamer.

Wow, narcolepsy! Thanks for coming back and sharing this. You certainly worked hard at getting your CPAP treatment to help you feel better. A good warning for those who have done all they know to do and are doing pretty well on CPAP yet still feel so bad. So many other things could be contributing. Hopefully any new treatment plan for the narcolepsy will be the last piece of your "feel good" puzzle.

Oh yeah...I also finally got the dx of RLS....I'm currently taking Requip for it (Mirapex was making me congested).

Originally, I had asked about this, but PCP doc referred to my original PSG in 2008, and said no. Others, have commented on how that's wrong. And, I felt the whole being wired up, including my legs limited my movement (along with the small bed, and lumpy pillow, etc.) He had blood test showing low ferritin....but he just wanted to treat that and see if he could fix it.....same way with my hypogonadism....after he ruled out cancer he stopped looking on why I have it, just trying to fix it (though last 3 - 3 month tries...the level has gotten lower....though he always says he's not seeing enough of an improvement that he would like, so he'll keep trying. Though once he said that maybe if this doesn't work he would look at my continued sleep problems.... Maybe he will someday....)

Wonder if I'll stop wearing out the area under my feet on the sheets at home now....

Hey, Dreamer...thanks for the update. Hope things go better for you now.

You know how curious I am. What got you the diagnosis of narcolepsy?

Did you have a MSLT (multiple sleep latency test?)

If so, how fast were you falling asleep during the nap opportunities?

And how fast did you go into REM in those naps?

Have you had episodes of cataplexy?

Suddenly and unexpectedly fallen asleep?

Just wondered what symptoms you had that lead the doctor to diagnose you as having narcolepsy.
