dry throat

Post by steve7e » Tue Jan 17, 2006 10:35 am

HI, I've been using Cpap(S7) for a year with heated humid. set at 3. Pressure at 7. Use a Swift. My sleep doc just put me on an auto(Spirit) to get retitrated(been on it for 5 days). When I wake up my mouth is bone-dry,any ideas? Should I increase the setting on humidifier?
Thanks, Steve

This used to happen to me and someone suggested I was mouth-breathing. I didn't think I was, but I tried taping my mouth shut and sure enough the dry throat problem completely disappeared.

Mouth breathing would be my guess, too.

Invest in tape or get a full face mask if you can't train yourself to keep your mouth shut.
Some people also use "boil and bite" (cheap) mouth guards......YUM!

Best wishes,

Its possible I'm mouth breathing but I didn't get dry throut for the past year on the Cpap machine. Maybe on the Apap because the pressures are sometimes higher this is causing my proplem?
