So I used the Mirage Liberty (hybrid) mask last night that was so generously given to me by another forum member.
First thing was that between that and lowering my machine almost out of reach, I kept the mask on and machine on all night. So that's a great improvement. However, my AHI was double what it has been since I started therapy 9.9 as opposed to 4-5) and events of all types were all over the map. I'm trying to figure out what could have caused this. Any thoughts?
Edited to add that I was previously using a Swift FX pillows mask and this one that produced these events was a hybrid ffm.

Re: New mask, increased events
Congrats on wearing the mask all night!
It may be that instead of removing your mask when you had events, you wore it all night for the first time. So lots more events were seen, simply because you were actually using your machine during REM-- before it would not be on you at that point in your sleep cycle. In a way, it's like starting from square one. Now that you can actually USE the CPAP, you can slowly begin to dial in your optimal therapy.
First, I'd give it a few nights, to see if the high AHI trend continues.
Secondly, it's important to know if you are having increased leakage. Even though it's a hybrid and you'd think it would stop such leakage, you never know until you actually look at your data.
If the leaks are under control and the high AHI's continue after several nights, then it's time to start looking at whether tweaking your pressures may help.

Re: New mask, increased events
Thanks Janknitz.
The data did show a high leakage rate, with a total of 36 minutes. However, the events don't mostly seem to line up with the leak times. They're just kind of random, all over the place. I don't actually remember any of the leaks until morning when it was annoying enough that I think that's what woke me up. I think I sort of slept another half hour or so after taking the mask off that but it was mostly not wanting to get up and not really sleeping deeply.
I'm going to be very interested to see what a few nights does to my trend and then switch back to the FX for a few nights and see what that does.

Pugsy???
Anyway, you have to get those leaks under control. One reason you don't see events during large leaks is that the machine can't really measure them with the leaks out of control. So the data is NOT reliable when there are large leaks.
Hopefully other hybrid users will chime in with suggestions to tame the leaks.
