The journey begins

Post by jauguston » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:20 am

My Respironics PR-1 Auto w/heated humidifier and Resmed Swift FX and I spent our first night together last night. I was somewhat apprehensive that it was going to be a long troublesome first night but to my surprise it went pretty well. I had used a Swift original pillow mask for my sleep study so the feel was not totally new. My AHI was 61 in the no mask part of the study and 6 after the mask was put on so it is hard to argue with the process.

I have spent a LOT of time here reading (thank you all!!) the last couple of weeks and it surely saved me from making some mistakes when going through the process. I TOLD the sleep DR what machine I wanted and after brief resistance he agreed. He asked where I wanted my RX to be sent after suggesting that they could supply the equipment -Not- and I said hand it to me and I will take care of it. He did. I took the RX to Optioncare here in Bellingham, WA that was recommended to me by several on RV.Net that I frequent. They were very good and I would recommend them to anyone. That said they first came out with a PR-1 with a October 2010 Mfg date. I politely said please look again for one with a 2011 Mfg date as I wanted the latest version with the backlight screen. Big smile from the tech as she said "You have really done your homework haven't you?" She came back with a March 2011 Mfg date one-no problem. She said there are other upgrades to it besides the backlight.

I have a lot to learn about this system but I like learning about how things work and what they can do. I would sure appreciate it if someone could give me a link to the software I can use to explore what is being recorded.

Thank you all for being here. I will be hanging around to learn from you all.

Jim
