Folks,
Need your help. I've Respironics REMStar Auto with Encore pro Smart card. I've installed software to read it. When I connect card reader, Windows 7 recognizes it.
However, the card reader does not find any data on card.
I always turn off machine before disconnecting from power supply.
Apparently, I am missing something.
Please help.
Regards,
Prakash

Re: Encore Pro Smartcard
The REMStar machine does recognize car when I go through set up.
Re: Encore Pro Smartcard
You are using the Encore Smartcard that I use in my equipment settings? You have the older Remstar auto machine and not the newest model?
If so, reasons for no data being on card.
Card was not fully inserted in the machine or it was not inserted correctly. One beep for correct, multiple beeps for incorrect and no sound at all if not inserted completely.
Card must be in the machine all night to write the data to it. Last week I forgot to put the card in the machine after reading data. I woke up and immediately remembered it and got up and quickly put the card in but I had turned the machine off (not unplugged) and it still didn't write the data to the card. I have a big goose egg in data for that night.
If the software finds the card via the special DT3500 card reader and despite all the above possible corrections there is zero data, then it is possible to have a bad data smart card. Could it be dirty? Maybe try the old pencil eraser trick over the gold square (gently) to see if that helps with connection?

Re: Encore Pro Smartcard
Thank you very much.
I went to local CPAP store with card and reader and confirmed both are okay.
Re-installed Software and everything is okay on Windows XP machine.
Could not make it work on Windows 7 machine following advice from this forum but that's okay.
I am happy and that's what counts.

Re: Encore Pro Smartcard
Hmm, lots of members here with Windows 7 and use the software. Interesting that Windows could see the card reader yet there was a conflict when trying to use the reader to obtain data. I will try to remember this scenario should someone else have a similar problem.Prakash wrote:Could not make it work on Windows 7 machine following advice from this forum but that's okay.
Thank you for taking the time to explain what the problem was. It may help someone else.
Glad you finally got it up and running.
