I wish I could lose neck fat and have it help but I don't have much to lose. I just measured circumference because I was curious.
Barely 12 inches and that is now with my current weight about 10 pounds more than I would prefer. I am petite. Size 4 ring finger size. Small boned. I still wonder if my OSA was brought on by damage to soft tissues during cervical spine surgery. Never had one snore or symptom till about 3 years after the surgery. Incision was large and on the front of neck slightly under jawline.. Doctor says maybe. Doesn't really matter what caused it though. Treatment is still the same and nothing I can ever do to my body will change it. A drop of 10% of my body weight to 110 lbs wouldn't fix me.

Re: neck fat and OSA
I haven't been on here for awhile. I had weight loss surgery in October 2009 (Duodenal Switch). I have lost 150 lbs and now weigh less that half my old weight. I am a normal weight and lost a ton from my face/neck/chest area. I had an RDI of 92 when I began. I had a follow up sleep study 2 weeks ago and I am NORMAL....in fact, I am better than normal. I had less than 1 AHI per hour and my sat was never less than 95%. I am so pleased. So, I do believe that you CAN recover from sleep apnea if you lose weight. Not everyone does but it doesn't hurt to try.
Cheers,
Cathy

This is what I should do. Im about fifty lbs overweight right now. I bet if I lost all fifty and could STAY THERE, my OSA would either go away or my pressures would dramatically decrease to the point it was negligible and I could get by on a low pressure APAP
