prescribed pressure is 14, flexifit 431 with a medium seal. LEAKS out the wazoo, apparently. I didn't hear nearly as many as the report states. Off the top most of the night, poor guy. In 3.2 hours of sleep, his ahi was 9 something. Should I try letting him use one of my small seals? Him being brand spanking new to all this, his first night was last night, and he was annoyed with the leaks. what to do, what to do?
Thanks guys.
He uses the same equip I do, just higher pressure.

Trying a different seal may help. He may need to try a completely differnt mask. What works for you may not work for him. He may need to tighten the straps or maybe he has them too tight. Be sure mask is adjusted when at the highest pressure. Keep in mind massive leaks mean higher AHI and may also cause the machine to NOT record events. Many of us go through alot of masks before finding the 'right' one.

I don't know if he is ramping or not, but that is the problem I see with ramping. Though it is useful in adjusting to cpap therapy and initially getting to sleep, I suggest that you try to "wheen" yourself off. I would adjust my mask went I first went to bed to the ramping pressure. But when to set pressure kicked in, the mask adjustment was not adjusted for the high pressure.
Sometimes I awake at night with a small leak. I found that if I tug the "outside strap" (next to my face), the leak will stop. This prevents me from over tightening the strap and only "snugs" the mask back down where its suppose to be.
