New Internist appt. today went well

Post by sapphireskye » Tue Jan 03, 2006 6:15 pm

Yep,
I have resigned myself to do whatever I need to do to get my health problems treated to the best of my ability. I finally got a new pcp close to home in hopes he will be respectful and help me in all areas including weight loss.
Well, got my blood sugar checked on a blood sugar meter, 3 hours after I had eaten and it was above normal. I have PCOS and it is hallmarked by insulin resistance. It is well known in the Polycystic ovarian syndrome community, that
Metformin, and related medications can treat this, and help individuals lose weight and even help women become pregnant. Well doc gave me samples to start on. I am really hoping this will help and that my blood sugar will normalize. He surprisingly lowered my high blood pressure meds. He wants to see me back in two weeks and see how I am doing. But, he was really nice and so far I am very comfortable with him as my doctor. He was not rude about my weight, but discussed the issue with me respectfully. So, all in all, it was a good day and I am glad. So, I am feeling much better after having gotten a cpap script yesterday, and a good appointment with a dr. who seems to be caring and understands my financial circumstances today.
I just had to vent in a good way and am feeling even a bit positive for a change. Maybe the 4-5 hours on cpap is starting to help. And, the DME finally ordered my new mask even though it will take a bit to get it.

Keep looking out the window at the sunshine.

Happy 2006
Chelle

Well, that's good news that you found a good primary care physician. That can make all the difference in the world, can't it? Somebody both knowledgeable and respectful...a good combination.

Good luck with your change in meds!
