After the last 6 years of poor sleep i finally got the gumption up to goto the doctor and then had a sleep study, my o2 level hit 47 percent and i found myself being put on cpap the next night at home and been doing great except for the dreaded mask leak at times, prolly gonna be hard to stay sealed good at 15 pounds of pressure,..Great to have a place like this to vent..pardon the pun

Hi, cheech -- and welcome to the board.

15 cm H2O pressure is a pretty good blast. What machine do you have? Full name of the machine will be on the top of the machine. If it's a Respironics machine, does it have a blue sticker on top that says "C-Flex"?

What mask do you have?

Yeah the 47% got my doc a call from the sleep study Dr at midnight seems i reached their emergency proticol, might explain why i felt like i was on my last leg lately. I used to be lucky to seemingly sleep for an hour at a time and very rarely even had dreams and now i cant wait to hit the sack for the next episode...

My machine is a remstar plus with cflex and heated humidifier and i have respironics nasal comfort gel.

Hi, Cheech...

I reached the low 50's in my oxygen desats, so I can somewhat identify with being one of the walking dead, lol....I'm so glad you were diagnosed and started in on your therapy. Those low oxygen percentages kind of lend a feeling of URGENCY to this treatment, don't they? I don't have any doubt that CPAP is an important therapy for me...or you! We've GOT to be good at this!

So good luck to you! Ask any questions you might have...someone here can answer them...

Cheech,

You have a great machine there and the cflex will help with some of the challenges.

If you are a good nasal breather & can work with a nasal mask (pillows or a mask like the Activa) then cflex should be easy to use.

15 cms (this is a measure of how far upwards the machine can push a column of water at this setting of air pressure) is a highish setting and you may find a few bouts of frustration with mask leaks. If you do please come right back here & explain as there are many good folk here who will help. I am on 15 cms and am more than willing to pass on any tips or pointers allowing that we all differ so much in how we react to the many factors involved.

cpaptalk is one great place to participate in on cpap issues & as with many others you will learn that johnny goodman & his cpap.com team are a great company to do business with.

Cheers
