Ok,
My DME acted like they can only get me either a mask from Respironics or Fischer and Paykal. I have to use a FF mask. They are planning on getting the Fischer and Paykal ordered Tuesday and said it will take like two weeks. I am mad because I didn't even try to use the Ultra Mirage last night out of frustration and low and behold this morning I looked at it and the outer seal has a microscopic tear starting on the edge. Now I am afraid this will happen with the Fischer and Paykal. I was so careful with this mask, but had a heck of a time getting it comfortable feeling like the ridge of the mask was hard through the seal. This is another reason why I prefer wishing I could try the Hans Rudolph, but I have a big face(I think) Hans Rudolph sent me the calipers and I got them today. I am not sure if I should call my DME and see if they could try to change the order if it hasn't gone out yeat (dunno if they are getting a free mask). If I am that rough on masks, and the seal starts to degrade after only two weeks what can I do. Medicare only covers one mask ever 6 months. Once hubby's insurance starts we have a huge deductible first. I am really flustered right now. But, you all have been a blessing. Anyone else have a problem like that with it tearing (it is microscopic just starting), with a mask so early on. I hope the Fischer and Paykal wont do that. Also, I am using a Cflex with the heated humidifier as part of the bottom part that I put the C flex on. My pressure is 8 and I have to wear a FF mask because of my on and off sinus problems and I cannot tolerate the nasal mask due to anxiety. I am having a little trouble as it is due to anxiety.
Merry Christmas

I can relate. Getting the FF mask to work was a challange, and my attempts at a nasal mask were not good (my sinuses would swell up due to allergies and start suffocating me).
You will do Ok.
As far as the microtear... As long as it has not progressed across the face of the cushion it should be OK. Just watch it and see if it grows.
Getting the right mask fit can be challanging.
As far as what the DME can do. Some of them sign agreements to only represent certain product lines. Personally, kinda dumb especially when it comes to mask. But, then I understand why the big companies want the local DME's on these contracts.
Best of luck with this.

Well
I am stuck using this mask till they get me another one anyways. I am just afraid I will ruin whatever mask with a thin seal that I get. We as many just cannot afford extra masks at this point in time because they won't hold up for me. Thanks for the support. I have so much going on, and really am gonna just have to do my best to keep my chin up (no pun intended)
Merry Christmas
