Data for Resmed Auto Spirit?
Data for Resmed Auto Spirit?
As I understand it, the Encore data is for Remstar only. "MyEncore" is to consolidate and clarify the data for the user as opposed to the info supplied for the DME.
I use a Resmed Auto Spirit and I can access the clinical menu. I can also access "usage data".
Info there shows the hours used, amount of leakage, highest pressure, AHI, etc...
I think I've read that the Resmed data, if I use the software, is for technicians only and not friendly or helpful for the home user. (I don't have the software.)
Can I use the "Usage Data" from the machine itself, as in paragraph 2 above, to somewhat accurately determine AHIs and leakage? If so, wouldn't this help me decide which mask is working best?
One more question: I'm using the HR Full Face Mask. For "mask setting" on the Resmed APAP, I've got the following options:
1) Mirage
2) Ultra Mirage Full Face
3) Standard
4) Something I can't remember
Should I select "standard" or "ultra mirage full face" for the Hans Rudolph Full Face?
Thanks, as always, to the great sleep gurus here!

The software, while not the easiest, does show you what inciidents occurred during the night. The usage data readout only gives you the averages for AHI during the night , the leak rate and the highest pressure you hit during the night. This data is enough to help you dial in most things.
As far as the setting, you should use the ultra mirage Full Face. This will give you more accurate readings as the leak compensation differs between settings.

Take a look at this info - it is listed as John Doe but in fact is my own data captured from a ResMed Spirit. I have mostly use a RemStar AUTO until recently switching to a PB330 (what a machine why did I wait so long )
http://www.internetage.com/cpapinfo/aut ... index.html
I found the data easy to follow and certainly better than any data I can get from my resmed using both Encore Pro and MyEncore - in fact there is a disturbing discrepancy between what I was getting from Respironics via MyEncore vs what I was getting from ResMed AutoScan software.
The figures for Apneas + Hypopneas in no way matched the same figures between the two sets of software (Autoscan & MyEncoe). In the end & based on feedback from my ever alert wife I decided the ResMed data was accurate & the RemStar data could not be trusted. I would love to learn to trust the RemStar data but need convincing from those among us who think it makes sense.
I am hoping to learn more about Silverlining as I keep hearing how good the data is.
At the moment I really miss the ResMed info (as per above link) but am committed to using a Puritan Bennett xPAP at the moment.
Good luck

Allen: if you are using the Resmed UltraMirage Full Face mask then you want to select it on your Spirit.
The reason is you cannot use the AutoStart feature with a Full Face mask, it causes problems with the anti-asphixa valve.
On the Spirit, when you select mask type as Mirage Full, it automatically disables that AutoStart feature. When that feature is disabled, you can optionally enable the patient alarm feature, when you develope a mask leak it will beep, again that is an optional setting. The important thing is to understand how the mask feature functions.

Thanks both for sharing your info.
I'm glad to hear about the Resmed data and will look into getting set-up for using it. I AM curious about what's going on while I sleep!
I don't think I'm using the AutoStart feature at all, no matter what mask I'm wearing. I might check that out, too!
Hmm--it's kind of like driving a luxury car with many bells and whistles--I've got to get used to what they do and how to use them!

I'm currently in the process of switching to APAP .. my ENT sent the prescription to my DME and the wheels are rolling. I called my DME today and he said that they usually deploy the Spirit for APAP.
Does this machine have the option to go from auto to straight CPAP?
Will the front display give me data on leakage, AHI and compliance, or do I need to purchase AutoScan for this?

Yes, it will. I don't know how accurate it is, but I assume it's good. Once you get your Spirit, if that's what you end up with, post again and we can tell you which buttons to push in order to get that info. Will the front display give me data on leakage, AHI and compliance, or do I need to purchase AutoScan for this?
