Hello,
I am frustrated with my humidifier! The temp in the house doesn't change and it doesn't seem to make a difference with the temp outside. I have tried all settings from 1-5 and I also put a cover on my hose to try to keep it warm but even with everything changing or staying the same, almost all of my water is gone the next morning! I even took it back to the DME and did a warranty exchange and still the same problem. The main part of my problem is I don't feel enough humidity and I am also not getting rain out in my hose (which is a good thing). Don't know where the water is going but it isn't being useful to me.
Also, I have woken up a couple of times knowing I had a large leak over night and my machine is registering 0% leaks. Is the machine malfunctioning? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Crazy Humidifier?
Try this...
Remove the humidifier and use the machine for a few days without any humidification. This may give you a better idea of what the humidifier is actually doing.

There are many possible answers to your issues. Here are a few thoughts:Goofy wrote:Hello,

- how humid is the air in your house? If you are in a cold climate and have central heating, the air could be VERY dry. Possibly dry enough to dry out your humidifier overnight even with the humidifier set in passover mode. The place to start might be a room humidifier. Comfortable range is in the 40 to 60% range.
- others also have reported not getting enough humidity from the PR System 1 humidifier. One solution might be to change your humidifier to operate in the "classic" mode. That will give you more humidity but at the risk of problems with rain-out. There was a recent thread on how to do this. However, it's also my understanding that it may be possible to make the change only if you have a recent version of the System 1.
Here's the thread:

- if you are mouth breathing, you will use a lot more water from your humidifier than if you are not mouth breathing. You also may experience a dry mouth. There are a lot of possible solutions to mouth breathing and they are well documented on this board. Others also may provide some suggestions on how to deal with this.
- at the risk of being too obvious, have you checked for leaks in your humidifier? In the morning, is it wet under the machine?
I'm workin' on it.
Re: Crazy Humidifier?
I did check the humidifier, and warranty exchanged it last month and still having the same problem. I am checking into the mouth breathing but my machine is showing 0% large leaks. I too found that post about the classic mode but I have tried everything and I must have the older model and it won't let me change it. I also can't remove the humidifier because even a little moisture is better than none, dry air hurts to much. Thanks for the feed back though.
Re: Crazy Humidifier?
Do you have the software for your machine? What does the leak line look like? It should be flat with a leak line that represents the standard leak rate for your mask (probably around 30 to 35 L/min.). If your leak rate is greater than that, you may be mouth breathing, but not necessarily showing a "large" leak.Goofy wrote:I did check the humidifier, and warranty exchanged it last month and still having the same problem. I'm no expert on this issue, but you might try taping your mouth for a night or two to see if that makes any difference. Search the forum for advice on how to do this (I think they use blue painter's tape, but I could be wrong)
What is the relative humidity in your house? If it's VERY low (e.g. less than 20%), then this likely will be part of your problem.
As a last resort, and if you can afford it, you might try purchasing a stand-alone humidifier (such as the F-P HC150) and use it instead of the one in the PR System 1. However, you first need to verify that you are not mouth-breathing or leaking.
Keep working on it. You will find a solution.
FWIW, I have a PR System One and find that it's capable of delivering more humidity than I can use. I generally run it at a setting of 1. This time of year, my room humidity is in the 32% range with a constant temperature of about 20C (68F).
I'm workin' on it.
