She may not be able to delete her posts, but she can edit them down to nothing but a period. Also, can she take a new user name or when she logs in under that, will it say "also posted as..."? Or does that only happen if she's a Guest?

She cannot edit posts that were made without logging in.

I understand how OP feels. When I joined this forum, I didn't know enough about message boards to think through picking a user name that was not my own name. I have regretted that, but I figured too much is out there to even think about undoing the damage.

I also understand the privacy issue. I tend to be be more transparent than many, and think a lot like stevesgrl98, but I do see that my comfort level with exposure is beyond what many of my friends could personally handle. I have to be mindful that the same type of information that might be public fodder in my life would be mortifying to my friends if revealed about them. (I learned to be in tune with this the hard way - thank God for forgiving friends!)

And there's something about telling strangers things knowing you'll likely never have to look them in the eye. As hard as it was for me to post my video of me at my worst, I admit that I did not share it everywhere. It's somehow easier for me with strangers. However, I do know that one of my associates occasionally browses this forum, and I regularly invite people here, and eventually people who know me are going to see it. Even I have my comfort limits.

As has been said, OP can log in to a registered account and use the spam button (if they have one yet) to delete their posts in question, but doing that will probably cost them their spam priviledges, but I doubt that matters to them.

LoQ wrote:Think twice about sending someone an e-greeting card. You are giving some third party access to your loved ones email address. Don't use the "send this to a friend" feature on many webpages, either. You should reserve publication of other people's email address and name as their right, so they can keep it off the Internet if the so choose.
..........
If you gave your email address only to friends who behaved as well as I do, you would never get spam, either.
I use three different email addresses, one for personal emails, one for commercial type emails such as internet purchases, and one for signing up for things like Yahoo Groups, or for email subscriptions.

The only address that has been regularly picked up by spammers, or has been subjected to unsolicited commercial emails, is the one I use for personal communications. The reason that is so is because that is the one that resides in emails and other stuff on computers most subject to being looked at by spam robots - personal computers. I have never gotten spam as a result of my email being given to hundreds of commercial web sites. I believe the single most reason anyone's email address gets picked up by spammers is because users of personal computers fail to keep computer security software up to date.

talktobon's email address is more vulnerable by being on her email correspondents' machines than by being exposed by a Google search. Still, one should not publicly post an email address, their own or anyone else's.

I don't really care what other people think. Just saying....
I'm with stevesgrl98 on this one. Who cares if the world knows you have OSA? At any rate, just remember that everything on a public forum like this is indexed by Google. They can only find what you volunteer.

Obviously, as you can tell, I don't care about anonymity on here (just look at my username!).
