This is why in Ontario, Canada the doctors must report things like sleep apnea to the ministry of transport, who will suspend your drivers license until you can prove you are using and responding to treatment for a minimum of 2 months. I know this as this is exactly what happened to me recently when I met with my sleep doctor and was given the diagnosis of severe sleep apnea. I am not sure what the actual criteria is but Ontario groups sleep apnea in their high-risk category along with epilepsy, seizures, and other such afflictions. Ontario considers people with sleep apnea to be more dangerous than drunk drivers. I know some other jurisdictions have similar processes in place.

I am surprised in the article and video that the police did not make any connection to sleep apnea or other such ailments.
