How often do you change?

Post by seeker01 » Wed Dec 29, 2010 6:36 pm

The supply company sends me replacement equipment every 6 months. Do you really need to replace the hose and hard plastic mask that often? I understand the cushion but I clean the mask and hose often so it seems like a waste. I was think of calling and canceling the next shipment. Its been awhile since I posted and everything has been great.

It never hurts to have a spare or 2, specially if that is the only mask you use. Plus the hoses can get leaks/tears etc. If you're totally happy with your equipment, then maybe stop at having 2 spares of each?

Cheers,

A couple of spares is a very good idea, it's impossible to get hold of a DME on a weekend or holiday. Those mask pillows and cushion seals go bad overnight. I pack an extra hose and mask pillow when traveling so I don't have to worry about cleaning until I get home.
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

I told the DME to take us off the automatic replacement schedule and I just call when I need anything. We have extras of everything so we just usually order a new mask with headgear and filters whenever we need to.
