Printer slot for memory card

Post by macademia » Wed Dec 22, 2010 11:09 am

Printer Brother MFC 210 has memory slot used for photos to PC. Can the memory card from S9 be used to monitor software for the S9 without harming either the printer or PC?

Not sure what you're trying to ask here.

But here goes at an answer anyways.

The S9's data card is a standard SD card and it can be read by any standard SD card reader.

But in order to actually make sense of any of the data on the card, you need to have ResScan (the software) installed on the computer.

Now I have no idea whether ResScan will be able to read the card if it is mounted on the computer system through a memory slot on a printer. But certainly inserting the card into the memory slot will not be able to damage the printer or the computer. The more critical question is whether inserting the card into the slot might corrupt the card itself.

So before you insert the card into your printer's SD slot, here's what I suggest:

1) Make sure you have ResScan installed on the computer. Otherwise there's no point.

2) Make sure you LOCK the SD card before you put the card into the printer's SD slot. You LOCK the SD card by pushing the little switch on the side of it to the locked side. When it comes out of the S9, the switch will be on the UNLOCKED side.

3) Insert the card into the SD slot.

4) Start ResScan and see if it can find the the card and attempt to download the data. If it can and does, all is well. If not, then you will need to consider buying a USB SD card reader---they are not expensive.

5) After saving your data in ResScan and quitting ResScan, be sure to "Safely Remove" the SD card from the computer's operating system before removing it from the printer's SD card slot.

6) Remove the SD card from the printer. Then UNLOCK the card by moving the little switch on its side back to the UNLOCKED position. And then place the card back into the S9.

Good luck

I have a memory card slot in my printer for an memory cards for digitial cameras, etc.

I read the SD card from my PR System One cpap machine using that slot - no harm to the compute or the printer.

I expect the same is true for the SD card for the S9. Of course, you will need the software for your machine as I do for mine.

Thank you to all. Excellent insturctions. I do have one question. Item # 5 states to remove the data card from the computer operating system before removing card from printer. Not certain if I know what this means.

Hello, Do you have to buy the RESCAN software to be able to review your memory card or can you download it from somewhere.

Thanks,
