Temp Substitute Respionics Bipap Pro Bi-flex

Post by Oldern » Thu Dec 23, 2010 10:13 pm

My VPAP Adapt SV is being returned for possible repairs and I received a BiPAP Pro Bi-flex 650P Respironics as a temporary replacement from my DME. My pressure settings on the Adapt SV are end-expiratory pressure (EEP) of 5, IPAP minimum pressure of 5 and IPAP maximum pressure is 10. I understand the DME set the pressure on the loan machine to be min 5 and max 10. This was the closest they could come to my machine on short notice. (A new machine is being sent overnight by Fed EX.)

Not being familiar with the BiPAP Pro Bi-flex, I am wondering if anyone has any words of advice for me during this short term change of equipment.

Thanks in advance for quick replies.

Bilevel EPAP 5 / IPAP 10 is probably as close as they can get with a regular bilevel machine for temporary use.

Wonder why an IPAP max of only 10 was prescribed in the first place with the VPAP Adapt SV, but that's just my idle musing...I'm not a doctor.

Hope you get your own machine back soon.

Response to Rested Gal re IPAP 10.

Folg comments from Final Sleep Study Report:

". . . Servo-ventilation, with ResMed VPAP Adapt SV and EEP 5, IPAP Min 5, IPP max 10 was quite effective. Sleeping in the non-supine position is optimal."

New machine arrived today and I will pick it up this PM. I need to post another question about what, if anything, can or should be done about old statistics.
