60 Minutes Superior Memory Folks

Post by GumbyCT » Sun Dec 19, 2010 8:30 pm

If you missed 60 Minutes "superior autobiographical memory" today, this will catch you up. It will be clear, if you can remember everyday of your life that you don't have OSA

But to me, who can't remember that I can't remember, it would be a curse IF I couldn't forget some things

I saw that. Interesting. A friend's son must have a bit of that because he throws out dates of things that happened from 20 years ago like it's nothing. I can unequivocally state I'm not in that select group!

Those folks are interesting. Not sure if I'd want that ability, we all have plenty of painful memories too. I bet they weigh on those people even worse.
I handle my OWN CPAP use without doctors.

Fascinating info, esp the 'seeming' association with OCD, tho with so few to study that could be coincidence.

The one lady who didn't want to meet the others, I had seen her story a few months ago. She had many bad experiences and found this superior memory quite distressing. One woman mentioned she feels the emotions with the memory. Yikes! The old saying "Time heals all wounds" certainly wouldn't apply to them. And it was mentioned that knowing each day would be relived for the rest of their life was a motivator to try to make it a good one. I like that!

The man I mentioned who is exceptionally good with dates does have OSA - very severe and is not being treated for the last few years. Maybe that's why the dates I hear him quote are old - not storing many new ones.

I also noted that only one of them was married. Due to inability to forget (and forgive?), they may be unable to give up a grudge. Potentially, that would make them very difficult to get along with.
I'm workin' on it.

I agree with that there.
Knowing each day would be re-lived and the reverse saying "Time wounds all heels" john
