OT - Just a Little Chuckle

Post by kteague » Sat Dec 18, 2010 1:54 pm

A few of you in chat already heard this little story, but I thought I'd share the humor in case anyone else could use a chuckle.

Picked granddaughter Tilee up from school. As usual, Tilee waited for me to come around and open her door. ME: Tilee! TILEE: Silence. ME: Tilee! TILEE: Where are you Grandma? ME: Tilee!! Come here!! TILEE: Where are you Grandma? I can't see you. ME: Down here!

Tilee lets herself out and finds me on my back in the snow and says, "Grandma, you made a snow angel!"

Not intentionally, my dear.

And to think I was walking down behind the car to get the eggs out of the trunk because I wanted to make sure they made it in safely - the boys are so rough carrying a dozen bags at a time. Sure glad the fall came before I got to the eggs. Oh, when I tried to sit up I couldn't - my oversized knit scarf was intwined in the neighbor's rose bush. hahahahahaha

Where's a video camera when you need one?

Oooh, hope it didn't hurt.
The video is only funny if no one is hurt.
--unless eggs are involved.

In tune with the season.

An elf is sitting on a park bench looking dejected. A kindly old man comes up and asks, "Why are you looking so sad. It's Christmas time. You're one of Santa's elves aren't you? You help bring joy all around the world during this season!"
"I don't bring joy to anyone."
"How can that be?"
"I deliver the fruit cakes."

Soooo, can anybody tell me how the fruitcake came to be an undesirable gift? I remember when I was little, Mom was the only one in the house who liked them, but she was always glad to get one. And when I first entered the work force, they were considered a respectable gift for employers to give their staff. Seems not long after that people's Christmas wish became to NOT get a fruitcake. Why did they fall from grace?

Mass-production.
Some folks have had the pleasure of tasting high quality, gourmet fruitcake.
That can spoil you for the cheap stuff, (which is not all that bad--unless you've had the really good stuff).
