AMAZING news

Post by MoonBear » Fri Dec 17, 2010 1:42 am

Hi,

My doctor read the data card from my S 9 today. While I am ready to launch software and learn more, in my first 9 days of therapy, I figured it was OK to concentrate on equipment and restless.

I have slept an average of 7 and 3/4 hours per night.

MY AHIs HAVE GINE FROM 101 an hour to LESS than 1 per hour. Everything, all number are, to quote the nurse, "amazing."

My body is a completely different one from the body I had just ten days ago. I wake with a smile and have enough energy to do one good thing every day, and then some.

My gratitude, my joy are immense. I thank you ALL for all the knowledge, care and support.

If you are new and reading this, maybe before therapy has even started, know that this can therapy will make you feel
beter than you ever imagined. My trick with the mask is to do counted breathing when I put it one to slow my initial breathing down. I have the ramp turned off now as I like the 4 pressure. my pressures are ranging between 4 and 15. God bless the S9.

Ask people here. I was so depressed and was in such denial only two months ago that I could not even bear to get the sleep test. Now the word "possible" is a part of my vocabulary.

Every night I feel nervous. My insomnia has been so bad for so long that sleep would sometimes elude me for 72 hours straight. Now the meds I have been taken, combined with some relaxation, and the right thing to listen to, has me asleep in 4 days. They say you need three weeks to learn a new habit. I' giving it six, and then will start to cut back on meds

yup, the mask is heavy and yup, I have red bump. But it is NOTHING compared to where I was. I got a gel patch from cpap.com and am awaiting help from Pad-a-cheek so that will be taken care of.

in this season of miracles, I have been given the best possible present -- my breath.

Thank you all, and I hope this story can encourage so anyone who is scared about starting this therapy. I am very lucky to have been so fast to take to the therapy, but was prepared to wait three months to log two hours figuring that mask on or off, I wouldn't sleep. This just goes to show that doing research, educating yourself, asking for help here WILL make a difference.

Bear Hugs,
moonBear

Glad to hear you and your S9 are getting along good.

I got mine about 8 months ago (first machine for me) and also started with the Quattro mask. I have accepted it from the start also. They are great machines. I am somewhat envious of those in Europe that have the option of getting the new Quattro FX mask. Have that on my want list.

Hi Stil,

I just read here last night about the Quattro in Europe. What is the difference? Do you know of a link wher I could learn more?

Wonderful to read you are doing well, too. Makes me grin for you. I am ordering an Aussie hose. No matter what, it'll come in handy if the hose on the s9 gives me trouble or not.

Thanks for writin back if you get this.

Bear hugs,
MoonBear

You may find this link interesting, it is about the new Quattro FX expected to be in the US about February.
http://www.quattrofx.com/quattrofx/en/index.html

The existing Mirage Quattro sold in the US today can be viewed at this link

The primary differences are in the headgear and the removal of the forehead support in the Quattro FX. It is still a Full Face Mask.

Great report Moonbear! Just curious, were you told what your 95% pressure was? I ask because of your rather wide pressure range of 4-15 and low starting pressure. It would be interesting to know where you land most of the night.

I used the Quattro for a some time. It's a good mask but notorious for wearing out the bridge of the nose. About 6 months ago I switched to the Fisher & Paykel Forma mask. The Forma does not leak and no more sores on the nose.

Moonbear, what a great post.

Very encouraging reading for newcomers to CPAP who may be going through their own struggles.

Hope all just keeps getting better and better for you!
