Sneezing Re Cpap Machine

Post by Mary T » Wed Dec 08, 2010 4:52 am

I do not sneeze while inhaling cpap air. Why is this? I sneeze all day at work (I think Im allergic to something in the air maybe from the laser printer or something toxic in the office air at work - just a theory of mine since i sit right next to the laser printer and have been reading about toxins from the ozones and dust and chemicals emitted from laser printers).

The air we are breathing while on cpap - where does that come from and is that filtered air?

Just wondering if theres a correlation between breathing in fresh cpap air and not?

The air comes from the room, through the back of the machine, and unless you have deliberately (or accidentally somehow) removed the filter from the back of the machine, dust and debris will be filtered. You should rinse the filter every week or so and replace if and when it starts to fall apart (very cheap). You are probably sneezing at least in part from where you sit at work, and maybe from lack of humidity (offices are notoriously dry), so ask if you can change your location.

ah Thank you! I'm seriously wondering why I feel like I have an allergy at work, and not at home and never with the Cpap air on.

Hi Mary
This happens to me when I use my nasal pillow mask, The direct air blowing on your sinuses irritates them and you sneeze all day. This doesn't happen when I use a full face mask, only when I use a pillow mask and I have two different ones and it happens with both. I don't sneeze when I'm wearing it but the next day my sinuses go nuts and allergy pills do not stop it. If you have another type of mask do an experiment and see if this works for you too. Let me know how you get on.
Cheers
Nan

Nanwilson: would using a netti-pot in the morning moistuize the sinus enough to curtail the sneezing after using the pillows mask? Need help from a fellow pillow-sneezer.

Hi There
I have tried that, I've even lined the inside of my nose with Lanisinoh with a q-tip, before bed and when I get up...still sneezing. If I use my Quattro for a week or two straight I can then use the pillows for a day or two...only problem with the quattro is it rests just below my eyes and I have swollen eyes in the morning......I go from being "old lady sneezy" to "old lady
puffy" My granddaughter thinks she's funny
Cheers...N

Funny; my sneezing stopped when I switched from the Swift FX to the comfort gel full face.
I still have to blow out my nose and stuff in the morning--but sneezing went from 7-10 times in a row to practically no sneezing.
Never really thought about it til now.
