Tangled up in hose all night long - Help!

Post by Laurie1041 » Sat Nov 13, 2010 10:33 am

I have a metal frame headboard which I thought would make the perfect hose pulley system. It's definitely not working as I find myself waking up several times to readjust my hose.

What do you all use to keep your hose from attacking you? I am not extremely "crafty" when it comes to design elements - so the less I have to construct, the better. Thanks!

Laurie, the morning I woke up with the hose around my neck was when I decided to do something

Do a search for "hose management." There are lots of things you can do...I ended up making the stand from PVC pipe and did it by myself with the help of the guy at the hardware store who cut the pipe for me. And it comes apart/folds up for travel.

Cpap.com has hose management products -
I ordered one that is collapsible for travel but 95% of the time it is used at home....great for keeping the hose out of the way.

At home, I have the hose dressed into the room so it isn't particularly noticeable and have it over the headboard to get it up and out of the way. When traveling I use the stand that diboja cited. It is excellent and were it not for the regular home setup, would work just dandy all the time.

I'll suggest the other approach: Instead of hanging my hose, I bring the hose under the covers with me and usually route it under one of my arms since I'm a side sleeper. Works for me. Of course, I also have a hose cozy that makes the hose feel more like a stuffed toy snake and less like a medical hose.

I use the Hozer, 2sections of it, an 8 ft hose in a king size bed. The Hozer is easy to take apart for travel, I use It all the time. Its nice and springy like a fishing pole, so no tugging on the mask for an active sleeper like me.
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

I used a diaper pin and pin my hose cover to my pillowcase at a point where I have enough hose to turn over, but not enough to strangle myself on.

I also just found today - what I think is a great idea from a search here, and bought some cable holders with that removable strip so it's not a permanent fixture. The 'holder' on the hook thingy is the exact right size for the hose and I have it attached to the side of my headboard, which is about a foot above my head. Just trying it first time tonight, but I think it's just high enough to be out of the way when I turn over during the night.

I love this idea because it's unobtrusive, easy to move if I need to and cheap.

Cheers,
Xena
