Worst night yet

Post by Roman Hokie » Mon Nov 08, 2010 7:47 am

Got 7.6 hours of sleep with 0.1 AHI and 0.0l/m leak. Woke up at 5am and every 10 minutes after until 6:20 when I called it a day (so the last 1.3 hours was included in that 7.6).

Miserable. I'm back to feeling as crappy as I was feeling before CPAP. I may even take a nap after work tonight and before my counseling practicum.

Any ideas of what's going on? Had you slept well, up to 5 am? When I keep waking up like that, it's usually because I'm thinking or worried about something.

I'm wondering if the time change has anything to do with it? We've been up since 5AM and both feel lousy!

Could be the time change. I actually stayed up a bit later last night to counter the possible effects of that.

I don't worry about anything from the time my head hits the pillow until I wake up. (my wife and my counseling studies tell me that's a predominantly female trait that men generally don't have to deal with)

I'll see what happens the rest of the week and may enjoy some NyQuil tonight before bed.

I got up an hourly earlier than usual. I blame the sunlight coming into my bedroom that wasn't there just two days ago.

My 2yr old is getting up an hour early as well. I wish we'd (USA) jumped ahead an hour one year and just keep it that way - never fall back.

Time change gets our household too, leave it alone! When I wake, if my mind starts working, Im done for the night. It doesn't have to be stress or worry, just thought. Tylenol pm is my sleep-helper a few days every month. I cant take it without a good 7 or 8 hours of available down-time or I wake up groggy. john

We all had bad nights like this for no apparent reason before CPAP, too. It's just that we are more sensitive to it now.

Certainly, if nights like this start to be common, it's time to consult your sleep physician. But remember, "one night does not a trend make".

It's funny how everyone's story is so different. When I read the subject I expected worse. If I had slept 7 hours without waking until 5 am, I would be dancing for joy. With low ahi and leaks too! I don't remember what its like to wake up to an alarm. Before and since CPAP , I never wake later than 6, and I don't have to get to go to work. Still waking several times a night to adjust things but I am able to fall back asleep unlike before CPAP.

I just had the same experience a couple of nights ago.
I felt like dog droppings.
I figured out what it was.
Apparently, I had a bit of aerophagia, which worked its way under an ill-advised late-night snack.
I will explain no further--but I went right to sleep for the rest of the night.

trytryagain, yeah, it's all relative. I just got home from Syracuse about 20 minutes ago and am beat. Had a couples counseling practicum meeting - went well. But I'm beat.

On the weekends, I can easily get 10-11 hours with AHI of .2 and no leak. And the 7.6 hours was actually minus 1.33 hours because I had CPAP on but wasn't sleeping (trying!).

Went to bed, post NyQuil, at 9:30. Woke up at 5am (alarm set for 6:30). Dragging again. Maybe I'll stay up till about 10:30 tonight and see how things go in the morning. 8+ hours, 0.0l/m leak, and 0.1 AHI.

5am on the nose. (pun intended). Stayed up last night till about quarter after 10. Tossed and turned from 5 - 6:15. 0.0 leak and 0.0 AHI.

Doing better today. Of course, I've been trying to sneak power naps in after lunch, assuming I get my reading (schoolwork) done for the day. 15-20 minutes of nap.

Let's see how today goes.

Morning 5. 7.7 hours. 0.0 AHI and 15.6 leaks. Worst leak rate ever.

As for waking up at 5, I have no idea. I have one of those projection clocks and I turned off the projector last night. I know I was up a few times between 11 and 6:45, but I don't know how many or what times. I feel a bit better this morning.

For the first few days this week, my CPAP was set on NASAL and not PILLOWS. I think that only affects leak rate.
