Question for you blue painter's tape users
I've been using the painter's tape for quite awhile.......over my mouth, and also along all the seems on my Resmed humidifier (it leaks). Have any of you noticed that once you get passed using about 1/2-2/3rds of the roll of tape, it gets dried out and doesn't work as well? It seems to get more porous after it has sat out for a couple months. Maybe I should keep it in a plastic ziploc bag.
Just curious if any of you have noticed this too.

I bought mine at Target in July; It' still nice & like new.
I'm guessing if you bought from a low volume retailer, it could have been an older roll when you bought it.
Who at 3M expects a roll to last several months?--must be some weirdo using it on her face.

I purchase mine at Lowe's......3M #2080....and I have no difficulty.
I notice no change from roll beginning to end.

Re: Question for you blue painter's tape users
Funny, I had exactly the same experience last night. I normally use 3M or Frogtape but misplaced both and grabbed a roll of no-name green tape from my paint supplies and had a terrible time getting the tape off the roll. I guess you get what you pay for.
Re: Question for you blue painter's tape users
You could try starting off from the end of the roll and working back to the start.

just finished first roll, no problems.Gerald wrote:I purchase mine at Lowe's......3M #2080....and I have no difficulty.

Have you tried blue duct tape? That stuff stays "fresh" forever! (And it eliminates the need to shave forever...)

I used the "gentle" micropore tape at first--"What happened to Grandma's moustache?"

Thought I would mention that these parts exists to help with your Resmed humidifier leaks in case you were not aware.Country4ever wrote:I've been using the painter's tape for quite awhile.......over my mouth, and also along all the seems on my Resmed humidifier (it leaks).
More to your subject, try the Frog tape, it comes with a nice container.

Chunkyfrog - 'What happened to Grandma's moustache'.
I've tried some of the "gentle" tapes meant for skin use, and I lost my moustache too. haha
Thanks Mark.....I didn't realize I could just buy the top and not the entire $400+ thing.
I'm not really sure where its leaking from. But I guess the most likely part is that top gasket. Sometimes the base doesn't seem to fit snugly in the back to the machine, and I wonder if its leaking there too. I don't think I can replace that gasket (where the air comes out of the machine).
Whenever I retape it, my leak rates drop for about a week and then they start going back up again.
Plus.....and this is strange......If I fill the water to the "max" line, my leak rates are high. But if I fill it about 1/2" lower, my leak rates are lower.
I'm not smart enough to know what physics stuff is going on with the water level and the pressure which might affect the leakage, but it seems to happen consistently.
Thanks for your help everyone!
I'll check out the frog tape the next time. Is that just another brand of painter's-type tape?
