ResScan - What is a "Mask Event"?

Just downloaded my data from SD card and the summary data states there are "Mask Events" sometimes greater than 8 hours every night. I don't know what this means. My machine records my daily usage as 8 or 9 so hours. What in the world is a "mask event"? Sounds ominous, sort of.

You get one mask event for each period of time the S9 is running. Each mask event starts when the "Start button" is pressed and continues until the "Start button" is pressed again to turn the machine off. I think the Autostart setting is similar: A mask event starts when the S9 detects you are breathing and starts to deliver therapy and the event ends when the S9 detects you've taken your mask off and it turns itself off. So for example:

If you put the mask on at 11:30 and it stays on until 1:00 AM, there's a "mask event" that's 1 1/2 hours long.

Then if you put the mask back and turn the S9 back on at 1:15 AM and the S9 runs all the way until 8:15, there's a second "mask event" that's 7 hours long.

I have been wondering the same thing myself

Halloween is a mask event.

And to add some trivial, and probably uninteresting and useless to most of you, info, in the data file STR.edf, which is the summary data, a mask event is counted every time the S9 starts and every time it stops. Two mask events in the Resscan Summary are recorded as 4 mask events in the data file.

Mask on, mask off. The masker...

It would make sense that the data file would record a "start time" and a "stop time." But, yes, on ResScan, it shows up as a duration of time.

NOTE: If you're a shift worker and sleep across the "noon" day change on the S9, I seem to remember that noon is two mask events. End of one day. And start of the next.
