Another Newbie

Post by Air Force Retired » Sun Nov 07, 2010 2:46 pm

Hi All--I am also a newbie to this forum. In fact, I am so new that I don't have my machine yet, waiting for the ever slow military paperwork to flow. Had my sleep study on the 28th of October. I don't know any of the details yet. I just wanted to say that in doing research on the various machines and equipment I have found a ton of helpful info from this forum and plan on continuing to use it after I get my machine. I am, as you can tell by my user name, retired Air Force and use Tricare insurance. Through this forum I was able to find out what the various codes and maximum allowable charges were for TriWest. I can now go to the DME provider with a lot more knowledge and get the right equipment.

Welcome to the best forum on the internet. It took about 1 month to get my machine from civilian insurance. Then several months before I found out my sleep doc was a money mill. So many sleep docs/centers are just money mills even if they do business with Tricare, I'm sure.

I am retired AF Reserve but have never used Tricare which, to me, seems to be more a expensive Medicare plan for military members. If you can qualify for VA you may be better of getting your equipment from them. You will just need to provide the VA with a copy of your sleep study and prescription. Get copies of both for your records anyway or this therapy will seem just like voodoo.

Welcome aboard and keep a notebook for yourself.

Welcome Aboard, AFR.

You are one of the lucky ones to find this forum before you get your equipment. You have a lot of reading to do to learn the language of CPAP Some day it will all make sense to you.

Welcome to the forum, AFR. Hope you have a very successful visit with your DME!

ps. get the script written the way you want it before you "hand carry" it to the VA. While they will issue their own script, it will be an exact duplicate
