problems with my oximeter, help please

Hi,
i recieved my new pulse oximeter 50E from cooper medical and I slept with it last night. The problem is when I uploaded my data today there was none.
There was a small amount in the beginning, maybe a couple of minutes, and then nothing but a straight line.
Can anyone tell me what i did wrong?

My only guess is that after you fell asleep the probe somehow got into a position where it couldn't get a good reading. Perhaps try wearing it while awake watching TV or some other activity where you are still to see if its records properly.

You may also use some tape to wrap around the probe to hold it in place while sleeping.

if you have some comfy paper tape or sports tape you can tape it on you it wont come off, anytime you see the straightline, mine is grey,
its not reading.. and sometimes you will see this line just before some big spikes, but you cant tell unless you check the one minute or ten
minute graph to see that line.... so when you download it, you can check to make sure big spikes arent artifacts..

when you do get your oximeter secured, it should be okay, try not to put pressure on it, its best if you have your arm resting on a pillow instead of your finger under a pillow..

I didn't think it was that because I had it taped last night but I just recorded for an hour while i was watching tv and it uploaded just fine.
Don't understand it all just yet but I'll keep working on it.

I did tape it but I was careful not to tape it over the top of it,I didn't know if I should cover it.
Must not have taped it good enough,will try again tonight,

I want to get one of these, so I need to learn.

sister, also try a different finger/hand - maybe it fits more securely on a larger/smaller/different finger. The key is making sure it doesn't rotate out of position.

I have never had to tape mine, and I toss and turn a lot , but I'd wake up (sort of) and push it back onn all night. Did you charge it fully before you used it? I lost the first nights test, due to poor eyesight, hir record mode again and it erased the night. Jim

My blond wife would say something about making sure you're not wearing nail polish, then laugh. But she's not here right now so I won't mention it.

Seriously, I put my 50E on my elderly father the other night, and during the night he did something and it didn't record for about an hour. Then evidently he moved again and it resumed recording. That's the disadvantage of having a fairly large and bulky pulse/ox on your fingertip. It gets knocked around a lot.

Thanks everyone, I figured out my oximeter over the weekend,{I think}. Printed out my data this morning and it was all good,thank goodness!
This little gadget is great!
