BIPAP or ASV?

I don't like doctors but I have to see one anyway to get my CPAC. On the internet I have been reading and there is a lot of talk about bipap and asv. What is the difference between them? I don't want to get ripped off. I told my doctor that I only wanted the best but he was not helpful at all. Can anyone help me decide?

Which machine to get? Let's think of it this way. Which should you get? Stitches or a bandaid? If all you have is a minor cut, there is no reason to spend the time and money on the stitches. A bandaid will do.

So, it is with Positive Airway Pressure (xPAP) therapy. You need just enough to clear the obstructions. If CPAP does it and does not have any complications (for *your*) then that's the therapy you need. BiPAP is more expensive and does not add any value. ASV is WAAAY more expensive and should NOT be used if you do not need it.

So, will the bandaid work for you? Sounds like it will.

What you do want to ask for is to have the doctor prescribe a data capable machine. Preferably one for which you can purchase the software. Respironics machines and others allow you to get the software and read the data from the machine.

Just like with a diabetic, it is helpful to monitor your therapy. This allows you to know if something impacts your sleep. For instance many members discover that alcohol shortly before sleep tends to increase their apnea.

You may also want to request an auto-titrating machine. This is a machine that adjusts the pressure to meet your needs. It provides a Continuous pressure (CPAP), but if you are not obstructing, it lowers the pressure. When you start to obstruct it increases the pressure to meet your needs.

But how do I know if I am obstructing or not? Oh that is what the data capable machine is for I gotcha. Is the autotitrating thing the xpap?

XPAP stands for every kind of PAP
