Just Wondering

Post by XSnorer » Tue Oct 26, 2010 6:38 am

As a new member to this forum, (but not new to CPAP), I've noted that some members show their equipment at the bottom of their posts and some do not. Showing or not showing seems to be correlated with the number of posts to the forum. Meaning those with high posting numbers seem to have a tendency to not show equipment. Is there a reason for this? ... Just wondering if it is necessary or helpful to display my equipment.

If you mean pictures vs text...more experienced members find that text works better, or is at least easier for us, when trying to figure out what equipment is used. It makes it easier for us to help. It's just a matter of personal preference.

Well, if you're asking for help in troubleshooting issues it helps the forum to know what machine and mask you are using. Gets tedious retyping that info in over and over and over .....

So adding it to your posts through the User Control Panel is a nice convenient feature for most of us.

But it seems to me that you've got the correlation wrong: Members with lots and lots of posts usually have their equipment entered into the User Control Panel, folks with very few often don't and there are several friendly posters who often tell the newbies about the User Control Panel when the newbie is asking questions where the equipment in use may be of some use in helping troubleshoot the issue.

Some of the members took theirs off recently due to a protest against Resmed.

What protest? Was this concerning the cards for the S8?

robysue, please check thread.... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56345&st=0&sk=t&sd=a and note posters with high posting numbers. And yes, I did note new posters sometimes have tendency to also leave off their equipment (temporarily).

cflame1. thanks. That explains it. Is there a reference or link on information regarding the protest?

I moved my equipment reference to my signature line because I have an issue with Resmed's sales and pricing tactics;
This way there is no automatic link to the product sales. (razzberry)
I don't mind that they will not sell their software to patients, because I already have mine; and the price was acceptable.
