VPAPIII ST-A, AI and AHI

Post by Mary Z » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:20 pm

I had some questions about whether this machine actually recorded AI and AHI. I finally got the final word and documentation from ResMed today. This machine does not record AI and AHI (it notes them as 0.0). Since it's essentially a "hospital machine" with pressure up to 30, timed ventilations, and alarms galore they see no need to record the other data. I first got this machine when my old doc ordered a ridiculous 30/25- what mask is going to handle that? Since then I changed Docs and am on a more reasonable 16/12, but with a monster machine that doesn't tell me if that is working. I want my old VPAP AUTO 25 back! No idea when or if I'll be able to switch back, but since this machine is useless for data collection, and my pressure needs are more reasonable it seems to make sense to change back. The good news is though I'm sleeping 10+ hours 9 out of 10 nights (bummer) I'm awake and alert through the day and no longer have need for Nuvigil. My new Doc suggests waiting for the new year and insurance to pay for another sleep study, but once he hears this news he may be willing to change my machine out. Wish me luck, please. I miss my old data.

Hi Mary,
I'm not sure your info is correct. I was under the impression that the only difference between the VPAPIII and the VPAPIII A was the alarms.

In the morning, are you pressing the two buttons simultaneously that gets you into the clinicians menu? Once you get into this menu, you go down to results and it will give you all the info you want. That was my 1st machine. I am now on my 3rd so I don't exactly remember what to do with each machine. If you have a problem I will fire up my first machine and give you step by step of how to get your numbers. Also, if you want you can download the software for free from some of our members and buy a card and card reader and get A LOT MORE INFO.

I also was misdiagnosed at a 2 night very expensive sleep study. 24/18 I am now on the S9 AutoSet and usually go up to 11.2. I have the bottom set at 8. it is a sweet machine and will easily handle your 16/12.
