We charge for the software to recoup some of our development costs. There are numberous upgrades from 1.6X to 2.0 - many of these were based on input from our customers. If you have the module, you only need to purchase CPAP.com Item # DV5SS-DV5SS2 which includes an upgrade cable and SmartLink 2.0 software installation CD.
SmartLink 2.0 will automatically search for updates whenever your computer is connected to the Internet.
