There has been too much divisive and nonsensical behavior on the part of a single member here - who goes by the username "Calist".
This member has been posting outrageous comments under the promise of being a medical professional. Not only are Calists's comments rude and arrogant, but they seem to act divisively on forum members. He seems almost as if he is intentionally trying to provoke members into conflict.
Calist has been sending PM's to people asking them to go to another website to get "proper" information. This is the last straw!
I am new here - but would still like to ask that Calist be removed by an owner or moderator of this forum. His comments are counterproductive to the purpose of this site - and now serve to direct people away from coming here. I am as much for free speech as anyone, but Calist has crossed the line.
Please, I think its best that - in the interim - we all stop giving Calist what he or she wants and ignore his/her posts. Anyone who can contact the owners or moderators at cpap.com - it would be most appreciated if you can ask them to intervene. This is a wonderful site - and I have seen many over the years. Very few have the good caliber and intent of the people posting here. I may be new here - but would like a place to freely talk about CPAP issues without being bombarded with irritating nonsense from someone who has apparent malicious intentions.
If Calist or anyone else supporting him/her feels so inclined to trash me - go right ahead!
Thanks.

Out of curiosity, I 'lurked' the binary sleep site.
Interesting, indeed.
The full gamut of workers, with a wide variety of attitudes.
The tech who is desperately trying to fit a mask on a person with a VERY unusual face shape,
to the boob who believes that APAPs should be outlawed for patients.
The lab folks are also sleep deprived; working at night; going home to lively children and few options for day care.
--The discussion about smelly patients reminded me why we DO want to bathe before our sleep study.
These are people who are trying to make a living--and got into the field with an undesirable work schedule--like many in medicine.
Self treatment can be very threatening to them.
Our RSPGT seems to be tolerant of my husband and myself with our knowledge and proactive participation in our treatment.
I'm of the opinion that they are not ALL 'the enemy'--but we need to be wary of those who are;
--and the system, which has been designed to set us one against the another.

I wanted to say that I had two, different sleep techs when I had my two sleep studies. The first one was a delightful woman named Mary. She was such a joy and made me feel comfortable. She had to abide by the rules and couldn't give me the results, but when I asked her "Well, can you tell me if you saw ANYTHING that would help them figure out my problems?" She smiled and replied "Definitely." My kind of lady. My other tech that I had during my titration study wasn't as personable, but I'll tell you what -- when I started to freak out when he put the mask on, he was FABULOUS at talking me through it and helping me calm down. He explained everything as he went along and treated me with dignity and respect.chunkyfrog wrote:Out of curiosity, I 'lurked' the binary sleep site.

Regardless of what's transpired here, I still give everyone a chance, regardless of experiences I may have had in the past. So if a person comes on to this forum and says they are a sleep tech, respiratory therapist, doctor or anything else, they will be treated with kindness, dignity and respect -- if that's what they give in return.
Edited to add: But I agree with the OP -- Calist needs to be dealt with. He gives good techs a bad name.

I'm going to bump this as our friend is back and in rare form indeed. If someone knows a moderator please contact them! Thanks.
