DeVilbiss data module and Smartlink software

Post by jbenenson » Sat Oct 16, 2010 9:24 am

I'm getting a IntelliPAP AutoAdjust travel machine (DV54D) next week and want to get the data module (DV5M) and SmartLink software (DV5SS) to monitor my breathing behavior. I have an HP PC running Windows 7 Home Premium. Will the software run on this OS? Will the built-in card reader on the PC work with the SmartLink data card? Anything else I should know before I purchase the module and software?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I don't know the answer to your question but think you should speicify whether Windows 7 Home Premium operating system is 32 bit or 64 bit. With some machines software, that makes a big difference.

Yes, it will run on Windows 7 and the card reader you have will work. I am looking at the software disk and it says Windows XP, Vista, or 7. I run my SmartLink on a little netbook with XP, and use the built in SD card reader on the side of the netbook. Works like a charm! You should have version 2.1 at this point, but if you get a disk for 2.0, just click on the logo icon in the top left corner of the software window once it opens and choose Update Software from there.

I started using the Smartlink on Sept. 1 and it is very easy to work with. Good luck..... I wish you great results and good, deep sleep!

Thanks for the help. I haven't been able to find a source for the v2.1 software. Do you know of a source?

Smartlink 2.0 installed on my Widows 7 64 bit machine, but didn't run. DeVilbiss posted the following fix:

"Please visit https://www.intellipap.com/WebUpdate/Sm ... NU-x64.msi to address this issue."

I just ran it after installing 2.0 and it fixed it, and then I was able to upgrade to 2.1 as Emilia has already described.

@jbenenson: When you open version 2.0, go up to the DeVillbiss icon in the top left corner of the page. Click and you get a pulldown...choose Update Software.

Edit: Surprised that didn't happen automatically for you. One day, I opened my program and got a pop up with the message for an update. If you have your pop ups disabled, that may account for you not getting it automatically.

I have now used DeVilbiss, ResMed and Respironics software. Of the three, DeVilbiss is the least 'clunky'. They also use standard SD cards, whwewas the other two manufacturers (at least on the older machines I have) use proprietary cards. ResMed quit supporting thie older machines in a very unbusinesslike manner, and their software was very difficult to use. (I will never own another ResMed product again.) The IntelliPAP software did not give as good a data granularity as the other two software packages do (I haven't updated the software, as I rarely use that machine now), but it is always reliable.

When you install your Smartlink module, make sure you press it firmly against the machine before releasing the latch. There are three claws on the back of the module, and often, the lower claw does not catch. This results in a sloppy fit. If you hold the module firmly in place while releasing the latch, all three claws will lock in place, giving a secure attachment.

I have it with that HP setup and like it. I need to learn more about how to use it to best advantage though....As far as I'm concerned, Emilia is very knowledgeable and helpful...she will take you under her wing (uhmmmm she's a cat so I think that is a "PAW" and teach you what you need to know.

Why can't Respironics fix their problem with Encore Viewer and Windows 7 64 Bit
