Intellipap: Interpreting Leak Rate?

Post by Sirca » Wed Oct 13, 2010 7:22 pm

I'm a little confused. I'm using a Swift FX and the median leak rate at 12 cmH2O has been around 36 L/min and average leak rate about 39. Mask leak time is consistently 0%.

According to the following ResMed document, the Swift FX flow rate at 12 cmH2O is 37.

Soooooo, does this mean that I'm not too leaky? Any feedback would be very appreciated.

Your leak rate sounds fine!
Do you have the software? If you do, what does the leak graph look like. I find as long as the Blue leak line is fairly straight and consistent (assuming CPAP not APAP) then you have leaks under control. The Red max leak line tends (for me anyway) to bounce around a bit but again, as long as it doesn't peak too high or long, then I think you got it right!

Hopes this helps

Thanks for the info, Snnnark. I looked at the graph and it bounces around more than yours seems to. And I'm using straight CPAP, not auto.

I'll work on smoothing that out with some masks adjustments. Thanks again!
