OT It's an annual

Post by carbonman » Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:39 pm

Today was my third annual Columbus day trip to Glenwood Springs to ride.
Two years ago, I was about 3mths into my therapy.
I was starting to get comfortable w/it, feel it....and was sure glad that it was happening.

It was really nice to get away and get a different view of life.
Doing a bike ride like this guarantees your mind will be changed.
It was a fabulous day. Chilly....almost cold as I started up the canyon.

Lack of moisture is preventing the really spectacular color,
but still very nice. The scrub oak isn't even in full color, yet.
It has been very warm for this late.

If you look closer the colors and textures blend.

I rode up to Dotsero and the mouth of Kremmling canyon.
The train follows the Colordo River through the canyon.
Another day will make the ride up the canyon to Burns.
Image
The symphony of leaves is in full voice along the trail.

There is some fresh snow above 11K in the Gore Range.

Fresh snow on the upper slopes of Copper Mt. ski area.

When I got back to Glenwood, it was so nice, I just couldn't waste the day,
so I rode south 8miles on the Rio Grande trail to check out a new ride.
There is a loop that climbs about 2K feet up Cattle Creek.
I rode up a ways to get a taste and to get a view of the Rio Grande Trail.

It made for a really nice 58mile day.
Wish you could have been there.

Thank you so very, very much for taking these and posting 'em...I'd likely never get to see such incredible sights! Lovely vistas.

I'm seeing it all through your eyes carbonman. And, it's just beautiful!
58 miles, I wish I was a fly on your shoulder.
Great pictures, thanks.

I'm seeing it all through my blue-blocking glasses. The blues look really blue and the yellows, well, what yellows?!

There is gold in them thare hills.

I remember the 1st time I saw those mountains and thinking if I were in a wagon train - I woulda never bothered even trying to find my way to CA.

Simply said - CA would not have been discovered.
