I think I need help

Post by Stormynights » Sun Oct 10, 2010 10:20 am

Every time I get a mask that I just love I give it away. I just got a new to me headrest and I gave it away. When someone I know has mask problems I want to help but I am just getting out of hand with this. Is there a 10 step program for this?

When I have books that I really really love, and want to share, I make sure I have 2 copies. One is for loaning, the other never leaves my house (unless it comes with me on a trip....)

Hi Stormynights

The classic 12 step group for what you are talking about is -

Codependants Anonymous

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codependency

another group possibility might be -

Adult Children of Alcoholics (if either of your parents were alcoholic)

http://alcoholism.about.com/cs/adult/a/aa073097.htm

An excellent book is -

http://books.google.com.au/books?id=6jb ... ng&f=false

And my all-time personal favourites which I think that every male and female in Western society should read every year between the ages of 15 and 25, and thereafter as necessary -

Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood

http://books.google.com.au/books?id=CzA ... CBYQ6AEwAA

and the sequel is also excellent -

Letters From Women Who Love Too Much

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Letters-Women-W ... 0099628104

and finally one of the finest books ever written -

Women, Sex and Addiction by Charlotte Kasl

(don't be put off by the title, this book is terrific reading for all women, and men)

http://www.amazon.com/Women-Sex-Addicti ... 0060973218

Try 25 mg daily of Maskkeep from GlaxoSmithKline. It is a new serotonin-specific reuptake inhibitor which has been approved by the FDA for treatment of compulsive mask giving.

No No all you need is some breathing exercises. Send me $5000 in small unmarked bills and I will give you the answer to all your ills and weight problems and phobias by a simple patented breathing technique.

I think after the last two nights sleep I have had will go a long way to help me avoid this problem in the future.

My mother told me this was being "generous to a fault"

and I used to do that too.. but not anynmore..

If somoene admired something I had, I would give it to them, because I knew it would bring them pleasure..
But soon, you can end up needing all the things you gave away....

it is a fault to give everything away to your own detriment, then you are good to no one.. .
so try this easy.. ten step problem with one step.. KNOCK IT OFF!

A few years ago the girls I worked with told me that I never complimented anyone on anything. I told them I couldn't because a few years before that every time I did that the person would give me whatever I complimented. This embarrassed me so bad and I was afraid that I sounded like a mooch. They told me that was stupid and I should't be that way. One woman had dumped her purse in a grocery bag and gave it to me. One pulled off her vest and handed it to me. I never could use or enjoy those things because I thought I must have sounded like I wanted their thing when I only meant to compliment them. Well they convince me that I was just bing silly. That same day a woman came in with a really cute pair of ear rings. I told her that they were pretty and she pulled them off and handed them to me. Everyone in the shop just roared. The poor generous lady didn't know what to think and I was ready to fall though the floor. I hate mooches. I sure don't want to be one.

Elena maybe when someone likes something they just like it on you.

well now I dont give anything away unless I have two of them!

my neighbor was standing in my driveway, the sun was in her eyes... so I gave her my sunglasses....

but I had an identicle pair in my purse!

so that doesnt count....

plus she didnt ask for them..

then she bought me a lipstick and a dog surfing shirt!

My ring box has shrunk a lot! not anymore though!

Once i was in a check out line and the checker compimented me on this jeweled pen.. I gave it to her..
I had bought a dozen!

so if you DO do this, buy in bulk!
