Lincare, a joy to work with

Post by base2balls » Wed Oct 06, 2010 6:50 pm

I was not very happy because I had not recieved any new pillows for my mask that I've had for 2 months. Well they did call and of course it was a computer generated call and I was supposed to get the pillows. WEel they sent me a frame for the Mirage Micro and so this a.m. I called our local Lincare and they told me I could bring it in and get some pillows. So I got dressed and took the frame in the box it came in to them and they gave me the new pillows and I was so happy with that AND they put in a request for a live person to call me rather than a computer generated call. I was more than happy then hopefully now there won't be any more problems with getting the things I need. I was getting so uncomfortable because my pillows were breaking down and worn. So now I have 2 new ones that iI can use so tonight I should be much more comfortabel sleeping. I walked 6 miles today and am I beat so I'm going to lo lie down and watch Ghost Hunters. ( watch me fall alseep during the show ) I better put on my cpap in that case I'm that tired today, but it was a nice day out and not jacket cold yet. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

Lincare....interesting.

A co-worker just completed a sleep study and is making that
Rite of Passage journey into the cpap world.
She is fighting for her equipment.

She is working w/the DME that is associated....not by their acknowledgement...
w/the sleep lab she went to.
She asked me what I thought about the deal they were making.
An S9 Elite...her cost after co-pay and rental.....~$800.00.
I told her that sounded pretty steep.

Long story short, I suggested she check around for other DME's her
insc. worked with. Lo and behold, Lincare.
An S9 Elite package w/Climatline hose......her cost $180.00.
It's a Festivus miracle.

Now we are working getting her a Rx for an Autoset.

I told her to not get too excited until the machine is on the front seat of her car....
but she's learning the game.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

My first DME was Lincare in Livonia MI, they were great. I got a data capable machine they let me try out different masks and gave me a lot of info. Then Henry Ford Health Systems who set me up with Lincare to begin with said I should be going to Henry Ford Health Products. They didn't carry the PR System 1 Pro, they only had the Plus model. So after many calls to the sleep Doc. I ended up with a PR System 1 Auto. It's been ok but I have to keep track of the replacement stuff I need.
Thank you,

Lincare in Canton, MI was the second DME I talked to. They were very nice but when I asked if they could get me a Quattro mask they said they had only two FF masks to choose from. They were very gracious when I backed out. This may have been only that one location so don't wright them off - but call ahead and ask questions.
What!!? Wylie was trying to eat me.
Any time spent being unhappy is wasted.

My sleep doc agreed to write me a script for an Auto machine, but I had a hell of a time filling it. He suggested a couple of mom & pop DMEs, and they wanted nothing to do with the AutoCPAP script. They all said the machine would cost them too much to be profitable with what my insurance would pay. One place said my out of pocket portion would be $1800 if they got the machine for me! I gave the script to Lincare and they didn't have an AutoCPAP in stock, but they ordered an S8 Autoset II for me. I was hoping for an S9, but the S8 works great

They gave me a Resmed Mirage Micro mask, but I didn't like it so they gave me a Fisher/Paykel Zest instead which I liked a lot more. I got the keep the Mirage Micro as a backup. They gave me a couple data cards, a chin strap, extra filters, etc.. They dropped off a recording pulse/ox for me to use a couple nights to check if everything was working. I didn't end up spending any money on all of this, nothing out of pocket.

I have had problems with the standing order for the tubes, filters, replacement masks, etc.. but it turns out there was a typo in my phone number in their system so they haven't been able to contact me. Hopefully my stuff starts arriving now.

So yeah, I was happy with Lincare - initially I was concerned because of some other posts about them on this forum

I too have seen negative posts about Lincare. It all deopends on the one you get your supplies from. The only thing I did not like were the computer generated calls and that is all settled now and our Lincare is very good and will go that extra step to make a person happy and the thereaphy more comfortable. So not to write them off as yet as there are good places and lousy ones. It also could be the people they hire that are silly and don't know any thing about customer cervice at all. Every one take care and have a great day, Huggies, Fay,,,well back to the seiwng room....

So more Lincare news... When it was time to get a new mask, I said I wanted to try a full face mask, specifically the Fisher/Paykel HC432. Well, it arrived and size 'Medium' is too small. I called them up, and they said as long as its in 30 days of receiving the mask they'll exchange it - so the Large version is in the mail. Can't get much easier! I live in a rural area, the nearest Lincare office is about a 2.5-3 hour round trip, so I'm glad they'll deal with all this through the mail.
