EncorePro / DT3500 Problems

Post by MesoFan » Tue Oct 05, 2010 12:01 pm

Hey folks,

So I finally broke down and installed EncorePro, and purchased a DT-3500 SmartReader, but so far I've had no luck. I consider myself fairly computer savy so it's pretty frustrating, but here we go:

1.) EncorePro version 1.8.49 (Db version 13.4) - I realize this is an older version, but I got it for nothing from a buddy of mine that used to use it - wanted to try it out before I bought the new version.

2.) The DT-3500 is brand new.

3.) I've installed the software and drivers, in the correct order, countless times now - even tried getting creative with the install order, but I'm still having the problem.

4.) Problem: The software clearly recognizes my DT-3500. But anytime I try to pull or preview data from the card, I get the infamous "Error Number: 8004020D". The one thing I've noticed, is that the light has NEVER turned on on the DT-3500, which makes me suspicious to begin with. Just out of curiosity I tried pulling data without the card reader connected, to see if the error was the same, but in that scenario it clearly states it sees no reader.

5.) The current driver I'm using is 2.0.0.9 from MAKO; it's the most recent version I could find.

6.) I'm using WinXP SP3 via Parallels; OS X V10.6.4

I've honestly read what I believe to be about every post on here regarding this problem (especially that error indicator), but I'm striking out here. Any other input would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm new here, so if I've posted this in the wrong section I apologize.

Steve

Use the driver from the Encore Pro CD, not the one packed with the reader. Jim

Hey Jim, I went that route as well, and still get that error. I also tried downloading the latest version I could find, and still no dice; I'm starting to wonder if the reader itself is a bad one...
