Cleaning the Hose

I usually clean my hose once a week.
Is that too long with it uncleaned.? Should i clean it more often?

Also when i do clean it (with just water running through it for 5 minutes)
And let it airdry.
After 8 or so hours of air dry there is still water drops in the hose....

Is it ok if i connect hose and use it anyway even if there is a little water in it?

What is the best way to clean a mask from your experience Emilia?

Yes, the air will dry it out. Most of us do not clean our tubing as it is very clean in there..... only clean, filtered air is going through it. I am 5 weeks into therapy, and I haven't cleaned my tubing at all. Others clean it once a week.... up to you.

I clean everything once a week as I do some household cleaning on that schedule as well. Running 5 minutes of water through it? Why? Big waste of water.

I clean a reservoir and a hose. I use warm water in a bucket I use only for cleaning this. Use some mild detergent. Take apart your mask. Throw in the pieces. Take the hose and stick one end in. Keep that end submerged. Then slide the rest of the hose in after it so that the hose fills with water. When you are done, stick the other end of the hose in so they are both submerged. The hose should be full of warm, soapy water now and as long as both ends stay submerged, it will stay that way. Stick your humidifier reservoir on top and it helps keep the hose down. Come back 30 minutes later and rinse everything out. I run water through the hose, but doing that for 5 minutes is a waste.

Your equipment will always be very clean.

Starone, honey, some of us don't clean our hoses much at all. Rested Gal says she does hers "once in a blue moon." I've had my equipment 9 months and have only cleaned the hose after I traveled out of town and had to stay in a hotel. That said, if you clean it and let it hang dry, a few water droplets shouldn't be a problem. Be careful where you hang it, though, because more germs'll get in while it's hangin' around than if you left it on the machine.

I have been on CPAP for 2.5 yrs.
When I used a system of a nasal mask and the larger sized tube I liked to wash the tube every day as it was connected directly to the mask. I found that this tubing was a very good fit to the bathroom faced which is probably a standard size. I would put a drop or two of liquid soap in one end and push it onto the faucet. I ran warm water thru the tubing until no soap bubbles were seen(less than a minute), reversed the tube and back flushed it for a few seconds. The trick to drying the tube is to twirl it for a few seconds, first from one end and then the other. Hung it from middle on a hook on bathroom door. Never had any water in tube. Now I have a nasal pillow setup , tube and pillows one piece. I follow same procedure now but just hold tube close to the faucet

I mix baby shampoo and water in a bowl and ehile my mask rests inthe bowl, I fill it into the hose every 7-10 days. Then I let tap water flow through the hose to rinse. Shake both ends well and hang from the mid point to dry.

There are always water drops left inside the mask and the hose. I connect them to thr CPAP machine and start a "mask fit test", which blows pressure air for minutes Repeat it a few times and the equipment will be completely dry:)
