RESMED VPAP AUTO 25/RESP BI LEVEL AUTO

When I was diagnosed with SA three years ago with a pressure of 20 I quickly discovered that I didn't like the base model Bi Pap, and with the assistance of this board I acquired a ResP Bi Level Auto (out of pocket) and set it up with wonderful guidance from Rested Gal. It has been flawless for these three years with easy 100% compliance running at 14.2 and sub 2.0 AHI. Now, yesterday I have acquired a RESMED VPAP 25 and spent my first night. If, anything it is even easier to breath with and first night results were: press 14.2 AI 0.6 AHI 8.2 leak 0.20. So, an excellent first night and I expect to see the AHI come in line as an average. Hey, Kaz!!! I delighted to read how well you are doing w/the Resmed VPAP Auto 25!!! Congratulations! I sure do love mine.

I'm using a PR SystemOne BPAP Auto w/Bi-Flex right now. I didn't expect to be any too impressed w/it but I was curious about the Centrals scoring & response, etc. w/the new technology and Resmed hasn't been forthcoming w/an S9 VPAP Auto. I've been pleasantly proven wrong about the PR S1 BPAP Auto. I'm getting excellent therapy w/it.

I certainly can't and won't say I am getting better or more comfortable therapy w/it than w/my VPAP Auto but I can say I am getting excellent therapy w/it AND I find the Pressure Support method easier to understand and work with in auto mode when trying to self-titrate to find my needed IPAP and EPAP settings.

I can also say that I so very much miss the easy access to and amount of data available via the Resmed S8's LCD screen. And I can also say that I still VERY MUCH PREFER the ResScan software to the EncorePro software.

I used a VPAP Auto 25 for almost six months. Wonderful machine, comfortable to breathe against, and very well made. Unfortunately, the algorithm in that machine could not handle the strange mix of apnea events I have. But it sounds like it works great for you!

Although the built-in data was quite useful, the Resscan software (3.7) left a lot to be desired. Losing the smart card doesn't help, either!

Yeah, my neighbor's grandkids played around w/my VPAP Auto w/the S8 ResLink on it and corrupted the data card (which is NOT the same data card as used by the S8s w/o the S8 ResLink). But its really no biggie. You can buy extra data cards and they aren't all that expensive. It really torqued my jaws at the time and put a real strain on our friendship. I never inflicted my kids on my friends, my friends never inflicted their kids on me. My neighbor was well aware of how I felt about someone else's kids and yet she chose to bring them to my home anyway. I did NOT handle the situation particularly gracefully nor do I feel any regret that I didn't.

Slinky, when I hear stories like that I have an immediate flashback to how my parents would have dealt with me if I had even thought about pulling that kind of crap in someones else's home. Regards

I actually don't know what my parents would have done to me if I had pulled a stunt like that, because my parents had me so thoroughly trained that I would never even have thought about doing something like that. I was not willing to test that limit. I'd already seen what happened for lesser offenses and didn't need to go further in order to get more information.

Yep, my parents never laid a hand on me but I KNEW, nonetheless, that if I pulled some stunt like that my dad would have KILLED me! HOW did our parents do that? Convince us w/o ever touching us that they'd KILL us if we pulled some of the stunts we see kids pull all the time today. Heck, even when we had to put my mom in a nursing home I was UNCOMFORTABLE and felt like a thief going thru her house and belongings. Somehow they instilled a respect for others and for others' belongings in us.

I remember a commercial on TV. Red background, silhouette of a car w/the keys in the ignition, the keys a brilliant silver. The silhouette of a kid walking by, looking at the keys. And the audio to the effect that our leaving our keys in the car made it OUR fault the kid hopped in the car and drove off. WE were the BAD guys!!!! My mother used to just frost at the mouth about that commercial. The kid knew the car wasn't his and that was all he needed to know to walk on by and NOT touch the car!!! Ooooh-eee, she HATED that commercial!

Well, my Father was a military man used to having those in his charge listen/learn and he did use his voice to get the point across if I required he explain something to me more than once. So, I as an old US Marine did my Son the same way, and we were having dinner together he and I as adults, and I told him that I felt that an apology was due from me to him because we now know that the style goes forward better or worse. He smiled and said that he never remembered a single time when he didn't feel that it was fair and well deserved. Nice that he turned out someone that you could trust, and nice that he let me off the hook

I think I have the same machine as you.My pressures are high like yours..17/30. I have said this so many times on different threads.. I am sure alot of folks get sick of reading the same information from me.

Terri, I don't know the differences in the RESMED machines as I've been on a Respironics M Bi Pap AUTO for over three years successfully. So, this machine is new to me and the range is set from 10 min to 25 max and actually runs at 14 just as my old machine did. I believe that in my case I require AUTO to be in the description of the machine. Regards

The VPAP Auto is a honey. It is still my very favorite PAP. Heck, I still have a soft spot in my heart for my S8 Elite. I really felt kind of blue when I sold it. But - thank goodness, the lady who bought it fell in love w/it. She had bought it as a backup for her M Series Pro but once she used the Elite, the Pro became her back up PAP. She loves that Elite as much as I did. Those S8s are one honey of a series of PAPs; well, the Elite, AutoSet and VPAPs were. I should dig my S8 AutoSet Vantage out and sell that too ... but I'm just not ready to part w/it yet. *sigh*

I really want to get that machine, my sleep doc's nurse is going to send a script out for one today..

My pressure is lower, but I have a big problem breathing against any machine.. except the vpap..

so how do you download the information?

I use the little sd card in my s nine now.. is it as easy at that?

I heard it uses the rescan 311?


OH and Teri, I have read all your posts, but I feel badly in that I dont know what to say to help you.. I cant imagine a pressure of thirty, I dont know
how you are handling that.. did they suggest you try to work up to that little by little?
