Why do I get NRA's with my new machine

Post by Scottrocks58 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:31 am

I just switched to an Intellipap APAP and according to my smart code at settings 7 - 13 I am getting AHI of 5 and NRA of 4.7. I spent 4 years on a Remstar Auto M with settings 8 - 12 with AHI's under 5 and no NRA's ever in 5 yrs. My new 90% pressure is 11. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks.

The companies define NRA quite differently.
On the Intellipap, a NRA is a drop in breathing flow between 95% to 100%. 90-95 is apnea, and 50 t0 90 is hypopnea. You clearly have more apneas with a drop of 95% - 100% in the flow. The intellipap will not respond to those. Look at the on demand webinars here: http://www.devilbissclinicaleducation.com/ondemand

On the Respironics, NRA is flagged when pressure is raised 3 times, and yet apneas still appear within 2 minutes of each other. http://sleepapnea.respironics.com/techn ... logic.aspx
