I love the fact that I am sleeping better especially since it has been only 3 months for me. One thing I have noticed is that I have gotten comfortable with using my machine and mask. Lately I have been slacking in doing things such as cleaning my mask, checking the water level in my humidifier and looking at my data. I had a this morning that maybe I am getting a little too comfortable with my treatment.
I am wondering if any thinks that it is possible to get too comfortable And if so any suggestions on how to stop this from this happening.
Question-To comfortable?

Re: Question-To comfortable?
The recommendations for cleaning seem pretty onerous to me. I think it's possible to take a more practical approach.
Every Sunday morning I clean my humidifier tank and refill it (it lasts me the entire week, YMMV), and the foam filter. I use fresh nasal pillows "daily" but I rotate between three and just wash them every third day.
I wash my headgear and acoutrements only if they are looking grungy. I stopped washing my big hose and slinky hose at all. I don't have any rain out issues, they are always bone dry, it's a semi-closed system, and I think the water from the washing poses a bigger hazard than anything else because it's hard to dry the hoses out completely.
I replace things regularly, I'm just going on my 6 month anniversary to replace the hoses and foam filter.
I'm going on 6 months on CPAP and I've been just fine with this regimen. Not even a respiratory infection since I started CPAP, a record for me who always gets whatever kids bring home from school at the beginning of the school year. My little one got sick, but not me.

Re: Question-To comfortable?
If you think there's a problem, I guess there is. I am quite comfortable with my treatment as well but to me that's a great thing. It's not dominating my thoughts or my life anymore. It's just a normal part of it. To me that's good.
I clean my stuff when I think it needs it. Once or twice, there's been a night when I'm like ewww this needs to be cleaned, but it's usually at a time when I'm busy with other stuff so it's fine. I probably only check my data once a month now and my numbers are steady so I'm not concerned. If I wasn't feeling well, I'd go back to checking it more often to see if I needed to make an adjustment.

Re: Question-To comfortable?
jabman,
Don't worry too much, think of it as a new toy. You start off wanting to tinker with it, and keep up with it, check the stats, clean the machine etc, but the newness novelty wears off.
I just empty the H5i reservoir every day, rinse it and re-fill at night. I clean it once a week (just with water and soap) and only clean the mask or tube if it gets grubby.
I don't have any problems with the machine, you don't need to clean it every day. I check stats once a week now, usually on a Sunday, transfer them to ResScan and take a look. I do press the INFO button to check the stats when I awake each morning just to make sure my AHI doesn't skyrocket.
Thanks
Dave
