I'm a newbie here. I'm here about my hubby. His snoring has been driving me nuts for years and finally got so bad we had to have separate bedrooms so that I could sleep. He does better sleeping on his side than back and I would keep asking him to roll over.
I've worried about apnea for a long time, but hubby's been stubborn. Finally I bought a good home pulse ox overnight monitor and insisted he try it and that if the results are bad he's going to have to go do a sleep study.
He had some white coat hypertension a little while back that alerted us to some higher morning numbers but more normal numbers otherwise. His blood pressure is starting to run in the 135-142 range (top number) in the mornings and is normal (110-128, average 125) later on in the morning/day/evening. From what I've read, that alone, morning higher blood pressure readings could also point to apnea.
He does have some mild daytime sleepiness. His snoring is very loud. I don't hear gasps, but I do think he stops breathing a little. His neck is 17" and he's mildly overweight (the BMI says he's obese at 240 at 6'1, but our family doctor says he isn't because he's nearly all muscle and built like a football player), no other health problems.
Here's the SpO2 report. What do you all think? It looks like he needs a sleep study to me because if I'm understanding it correctly, it shows lowered pulse ox readings. But are they enough to qualify as apneas.
Overview:
-He slept 8 hours 3 minutes, with 81 oxygen events, 75 pulse events.
-He spent 69.2 minutes of the 8 hours 3 minutes in oxygen events and 46.7 in pulse events.
-Average oxygen event duration of 51.3 seconds, average pulse event duration of 37.4 seconds.
-Index for 1 hour: 10 oxygen events & 9.2 pulse events.
-Basal Sp)2: 93.6
-Events below 88%: 2
-Time min below 88%: 0.1
-Average low SpO2% 91.3
-Minimum Sp02% 86
-Average low pulse: 59.4
-Low pulse: 48
(my note: his usual pulse, resting is in the mid 60's)
-Sp02 level events:
99-95% = 0
94-90%= 73
89-85%=8
Time Below 95% = 79.7
Time Below 90% = 79.7
Time Below 85% = 0.05
