Sorness in the chest

Post by ready4sleep » Mon Aug 30, 2010 3:14 pm

I just started using my CPAP machine this Saturday and now my chest is a little sore...anyone else have that problem..I did not know if it is from the pressure of the air making me breath more or what...

What is your pressure at. I at some chest soreness during titration and the RT said it was from blowing against high pressures. During titration they has me up to 17 (to get me to go into rem) but my auto only has gone as high as ten. The first couple of night I hurt but now after 11 day it is okay

I've been having this too and was curious what's causing it. I'm only at a pressure of 7, so that's not my problem.

I had it at first at 7 then at 9. Your muscles DO have to work against the pressure that they never did before. It lasts only about a week like all sore muscles after a new workout.

Then you should be seeing your doctor about it.

I have pretty dreadful ribcage soreness that radiated into my back the 1st few wks which disappeared for 2.5 yrs when it returned...with a vengence it felt like . I had a dataless CPAP at the time; after 4-day trial gathering data, I was in deep lust with that APAP & how well I slept with it...no soreness and it didn't even have exhalation relief! Battled insurance to get upgraded to an APAP (had other issues too)...they won, what can ya expect with profit-driven rationed healthcare? I bought my AutoSet II and love it, varying pressure, exhalation relief!

Seems to me you might need more exhalation relief than what you're getting now. My sleep doc said to call back if that soreness didn't get better/go away in a few weeks.
