My kids didn't need to know anymore than that the machine/mask meant I didn't snore anymore!

I've tried to ban sleepovers at our house (hate them anyway) saying I'm embarrassed by the machine, but I'm too much of a softie to make that stick.

LOL i remember why i used the cabbage now lmbo almost forgot about that technique when i was breastfeeding.

anyhow back to OT lol

my younger daughter ended up in my older daughters bed last night (i used to wake up with her in our bed in the morning). i asked her how come she didn't come into our bed and that her older sister needs her sleep (smaller bed=kicking each other=two cranky kids) and she said my mask. she said she came in this morning but it was making a loud noise so she went in her sisters room. guess it's a little freaky for her still. my older one does not care. she will be 12 next month. pre-teen phase has already begun lol

I WISH my mask would keep my kiddos out of my bed!

My kids 17, 15, 14 were old enough that they really didn't care. They were interested and in unison said better you than me. My daughter was telling all the family about it at a recient get together but it was actually good because my brother-in-law and my wife's aunt both questioned me about it and both of them are now going for sleep studies.

The majority of layman's explanations of sleep apnea include the phrase "stop breathing", which pretty much paints a picture of catastrophe and creates an uphill battle from that point on.

Depending on the age of the child, you might want to simply go with "Anti-Snoring Machine" and work the other stuff in later.

I'd rather tell them I'm Obi Wan wearing the Clone Trooper outfit.
