welcome, would be pleased to have your comments on the following>:

as a CPAP user for 15 years Ive seen the air filters get steadily smaller on newer CPAPs, some are flimsy and easily knocked out of place and perhaps lost. its said that many CPAP repairs are caused by blocked air filters

is there a chance of a CPAP smouldering or catching fire, it only takes a few lungfulls of fumes from some burning plastics tio lead to death. do CPAPs have any sort of built in smoke detector to turn it off

it seems newer CPAPs dont last as long as the earlier models did, are new CPAPs built to lower standards?

how do you feel about secret pressure adjustment info being available on the net for many CPAPs, also that full clinicians mauals can be downloaqded for many different makes and model CPAPs from the net

Well I think this is a marvelous opportunity for brain picking!!

Now what does a tech do exactly... do you trouble shoot machines, deliver them to clients or patients,

or teach rt's how to work them?

do you repair machines?

Do you run out to see a patient if the need a new machine, or what?

Do you sell machines to clients or patients?

Welcome to the forum, OCT. Since you've lurked for awhile I figure you'll be able to hold your own or you wouldn't have decided to sign on and 'fess up.

Actually, I always find it rather interesting to read about the viewpoint from the "other side of the fence" and what local DME providers run into regarding patient care and the company's profit margins.

Are you in one of Medicare's "competitive bidding" areas?

Lucky you, I am told to make an appointment for sometime next week for a leaking humidifier. I told them I would be there at 1:30 and they were thoroughly pissed when I showed up so I started bitching loudly about paying $2000 for a piece of crap that leaks and planned obsolescence in front of the waiting new customers and then I got real fast service - they gave me a new humidifier just to get me out of there fast.

Welcome, hope to see you here often. Are we talking 24-hours on call? Is that a first here, I don't remember ever hearing about that type of service?
