canulas and nasal pillows

Post by newname » Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:54 pm

I though canulas were like the plastic tubes people put in their nose for oxygen. I read about the NASAL AIRE II and it looked like they are not like that at all. It said they are like the pillows except they fit up your nose instead of at the nare openings. Could someone please clarify this. Thanks.

Yep, you got it figured out. The cannula for the Nasal Aire II fits in the nares (nose holes) and when the pressure hits it seals against the inside of the nose. No bellows like the pillows. Looks like an oversize oxygen cannula. Comes with 5 different sizes to fit different size noses. It is a wonderful mask that when it fits correctly gets almost no leaks unless you open your mouth. It is a hard mask to get used to however. The nose for most people gets a bit sore until the nose toughens up but you have to be willing to stick with it until that happens. I have used it for almost 3 years and would not trade it for anything I have seen or tried. Nice thing there is no straps to adjust every night. Just slip it over my head and pull up ther hoses and hit the pillow. Laying on the hoses does bother some folks but I never noticed.

OH my gosh! I have seen these before, but I thought NO way could you sleep in them!

it says you can sleep in any position? I would have thought you would squish the tubing if youre on your side, or stomach, but no?

My this does look interesting! Look, they even have a couple with matching canulas cuddling in bed! I HAVE to show this to my husband!

This is actually a fantastic little mask. Get the kit with all the prongs, it's worth the extra 2 bucks.
