I am so sorry to hear this and unfortunately, I can relate to exactly what you are going through. Also unfortunately, I have been on CPAP for 8 months and that part of my life has seen no improvement.Desperate_in_DM wrote:My husband and I have had sexy time 5 times since February 2008.
I'm hoping the machine helps me feel like me again because our relationship has suffered severely and may not make it. I've only been on the machine for 13 days and feel much worse. I'm still hopeful, but it's tough.

By the way....what is sex? Never mind.Patrick A wrote:Yes....Yes among other factors......yes maybe...no maybe.sleepymama wrote:i wish it was anonymous cause i know some of you won't respond even if you have something to say. i'm curious to know how many of us have lost our sexual drive? i see that sleep apnea can cause impotence in men but i haven't found much information related to women. i've had a low drive for sometime now and wonder if the sleep apnea is part of it. i was just wondering if others find that this is true for them. both men and women can feel free to reply on here or send me a message if you do not want to post it for open view. for those that have found this, did u find that treatment with cpap has helped?

No problem with sex drive nor with ED here. Problem is that after chasing the wife around for fifteen minutes, when I catch her I forget why I was chasing her.

URGENT WARNING!
Sex and CPAP/APAP do not mix well!
My friend Joe was treated about a year ago for OSA and put on CPAP. His sex drive began to increase as expected much to the delight of his wife; but they were quite concerned about it taxing his heart and lungs needless to say so they sought out a specialist, who, in conjunction with the respirologist and cardiologist actually set them to a schedule! The were to have fun on Monday night, then skip a night and have fun on Wednesday night, the skipping at least two nights, have fun on the weekend as they wished, skipping either Saturday OR Sunday. This seemed to work quite well for them and it has been going on for about a year now.
Regretably, we got news just the other day of Joe's passing and had missed the funeral. We did visit with his wife (widow) however to pay our respects and to find out what went wrong.... after all, it had been going so well for pretty much a full year.
Despite a thorough post-mortem they could not determine a cause of death but his wife had it pegged right on.
All she had to say was "IT HAD TO BE ALL THAT DAMN SKIPPING!"

Re: personal question for those that wish to respond
Regarding sex and CPAP therapy: you want to get your MD`s consent to undertake same. Especially the respirologist and the cardiologist. We have been in rehab for almost a year now and, frankly, our sex life had been curtailed both by lack of energy, desire and doctors`orders.
Last week my wife, in desperation, came to the visit to the GP with me and asked him outright about having sex again, now that I am feeling better.
He suggested that at first we keep things down to perhaps three nights a week.
I have put my name down for Mondays and Thursdays. Looking for weekend help.

Re: personal question for those that wish to respond
Visited the GP regarding our newly found interest in sexual activity.... as both the wife and I suffer from OSA amongst other ailments. He suggested very strongly using protection.
So I went out and bought a really nice Colt .45 that we keep by the bedside at night.

Thanks for the laughs, torontoCPAPguy...and we won't be expecting any posts from you on Thursday night.

Well I *was* going to post a serious comment, the. couldn't stop laughing thanks to Toronto!
Anyhoo back to the serious bit...
In my case, it took a combination of starting cpap, starting meds for hypothyroidism, and stopping birth control pills! Reducing stress was the key for me (which cpap helps with, but so do the thyroid meds).
