a visit to my GP!

Post by jean19540_0 » Mon Jan 17, 2005 2:45 pm

on thursday of last week i got a telephone call from my GP's surgery, the doctor wants to see you the reseptionist said, i made the appointment for today (monday), but i asked why, she replied, he's had a letter about your OSA & he want to talk to you about it.
going to the surgery i was still confused, but he soon put me right. the letter aparently from the consultant, told him that i have severe OSA, & because of that they gave me my cpap that day. i ask what severe OSA ment your oxygen levels are down to 59 and apparently (which i did not know) i was having well over 70 apnias an hour, although they had'nt given him the exact details, just well over 70, he told me to ask for more information when i go for my next check-up.
something else very interesting showed up in the blood check, the fact that i am very iron defishant. although i've had iron tablets in the past, my gp was quite concerned, he gave me a boost suply of iron & if its still low when i've have finished the tablets, he's going to investigate further.
what puzzels me is, could this be related to the apnia
its the post yesterday that triggered my thoughts this way, the ones about other conditions & osa.
guess what i have been back today with my mask, because of my bloody nose & face (as well now). they put a differant size inner mask onto it, & already feels better & they gave me a good supply of duo-derm also to protect my face, although i had something very similar, this does stick better. i would be very interested to ear anybodys thoughts on the anemia & osa being linked
